The afternoon of Life

Thoroughly unprepared we take the step into the afternoon of life; worse still we take this step with the false assumption that our truths and ideals will serve us as hitherto. But we cannot live the afternoon of life according to the program of life's morning; for what was great in the morning will be little at evening, and what in the morning was true will at evening have become a lie.

To this I would add that it is at this particular time when the light begins to fade that therapy is not just important, but  it can prove life saving. It is at this time, when the shadows begin to lurk in the dark corners of our minds, that a therapist can guide us safely out of the woods and prevent decisions made in confusion, executed in fear and regretted thereafter.
